| In the fall of 1979 Jan Kather (MFA Cornell, 1982) taught her first photography classes at Elmira College, the institution that she has called “home” for over twenty-five years. Since graduate school days, she has maintained her teaching role at Cornell as well.
In 1994 her love of the photographic image as silver print expanded to the digital image after taking her first Photoshop class with Professors Stan Bowman and Gail Scott-White. Today Jan teaches traditional photography classes while exploring digital imaging in her own work, as well as with her students. The portfolios and projects on this website derive largely from investigations into the world of digital imaging, using photographs created with traditional film cameras, digital cameras and flat bed and film scanners. |
